We did it for the Trust!

The Emily Ash Trust is pleased to announce that two brave supporters ran this year’s Flora London Marathon – Paul Forrester and Norman Colman. Norman is the Deputy Head teacher at Cheam Park Farm Junior School, and his pupils backed him all the way. They held a mufti day to help raise even more money for The Emily Ash Trust. He ran a magnificent 5 hours 30 minutes this year.

Paul Forrester is a regular supporter of the Trust and owner of Country Waste Management. He bettered his 2005 run by one hour and one minute – a fantastic effort, and came in at 4 hours 30 minutes.

The Lord Palmerston pub in Carshalton helped the Trust at the Marathon, by donating a percentage of their takings during 23rd April to the fundraising efforts. The Trust also enlisted taxi drivers to carry fundraising buckets and posters during their journeys around London in the weeks before the Marathon. In total, their combined marathon efforts raised over £2000 for the Trust.

Inspired by Emily, an eleven-year old girl who has suffered from leukaemia since she was four, The Emily Ash Trust was formed to raise funds to help local children, and their families, who are suffering from leukaemia and other cancers.
Funds raised this year will be used to refurbish areas within some of the Royal Marsden shared care units in the South East. In addition, the Trust also now owns a holiday home which is available for free to leukaemia sufferers and their families – to find out more about this facility please call Alison Ash on 07931 385633.

We also have other fundraisers coming up – on Sunday 16th July teams can take part in our It’s a Knockout Day, and we are holding our Annual Ball and auction on Saturday 16th September at the Addington Palace in Croydon. If you want to find out more about the Trust or our forthcoming events please call 020 8641 6532 or visit www.emilyashtrust.co.uk

The Emily Ash Trust Annual Ball 2005

A great night out was had by all!

The Emily Ash Trust held their Annual Charity Dinner on Saturday 17th September at Addington Palace in Croydon. This years' dinner was a huge success with nearly 450 guests at the event - a fantastic night that raised a record-breaking £47,000 for a great cause.

Guests were welcomed to the event by patron ex-Wimbledon and Jamaica footballer, Robbie Earle, and enjoyed a fantastic night's entertainment. The auction was hosted by TV's Mike Brewer, and items included England Cricket team memorabilia signed by Andrew Flintoff, a signed England football shirt, a sailing yacht training day, an England rugby shirt signed by Martin Johnson, a weekend at Champney's, golf days, tickets for the A1GP race at Brands Hatch, and a two-week holiday to Spain. The lucky raffle winner of a new Hyundai was Jade Johnston of Kingston, who has only just started driving!

Organiser Sue May and her team were thrilled with the success of this years' Ball, "We are overwhelmed by the fantastic support from our sponsors Legal & General, Country Skip Hire, Relative Groundwork and Hyundai Cars, as well as the great donations from many other companies in the area. The money raised at the Ball will go a long way to continue our work with families at the Royal Marsden Hospital. A huge thank you must go to everyone who supported this years' event."
